In September 2015 I fulfilled a dream I have been planning for 12 years. A friend and I drove along America’s ‘Mother Road’, more commonly known as Route 66. Martin, who I first met when we were both members of the Rushmoor Mallards Disability Sports Club nearly 30 years ago, and I first spoke about doing this road trip for our 40th year but it never happened. Therefore for our 50th year we got organised and had an awesome experience. It was an amazing two and half weeks taking in such sites as the world’s biggest rocking chair, the St Louis Gateway Arch, the Meteor Crater in Arizona, the Grand Canyon (in a helicopter!) and Vegas and LA. A dream fulfilled that I will take to the grave.
